Shift Manager - Operations

Our Midwest Tin facility, located in Northwest Indiana has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager - Finishing Process Lines/Warehouse and Shipping to handle various aspects of activity and the supervision of unionized employees in the Gary Tin division. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Administration of the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping
Application of engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve equipment issues to maximize efficiencies
Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures to maintain the electrical/mechanical equipment and facilities.
Coordinate activities with other production staff
Directly supervise union employees and work closely with vendors and contractors as necessary.
Ensure environmental compliance
Other administrative activities may include scheduling/paying crews, completing production reports, and other reporting as necessary
Level and compensation based on experience.
High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelors Degree is preferred in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in heavy industrial maintenance environment
Experience in heavy manufacturing supervising union wage employees
Knowledge of electrical or mechanical maintenance
Minimum 2 years working in an industrial atmosphere.
Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
Prior experience in a union environment or similar military leadership experience is a plus.
Level and compensation based on experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
