Park Guides at Indiana Dunes National Park are part of a diverse team of interpreters and educators who work with a wide variety of audiences-from general park visitors to youth groups to schools. They are on the front lines of a 2 million visits per year park and are considered ambassadors of park fun and engagement. The entry level GS-02 park guide works alongside more experienced staff to develop, prepare and deliver formal or informal programs related to natural and cultural resources at the park. Park Guides answer visitor questions and provide basic orientation information about the park at the front desk of the main visitor center, the Douglas Environmental Education Center, and at other roving areas of the park. Park Guides will staff information booths and tables at locations outside the park, relaying basic orientation information about the park. Park Guides assist other staff with a variety of recreation based programming such as paddling, biking, hiking, and water activities on the beach. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/27/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40
hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount o qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-2 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At three months of general experience. General experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
High school diploma or Equivalent Volunteer
Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
